| Abstract | Two cases of shell breakage and subsequent repair are described in Euomphalopterus Roemer, 1876 from the Silurian of Gotland, Sweden. One specimen shows a single repaired injury. The second specimen shows repeated breakage and repair, with eventual loss of the prominent peripheral frill which is considered characteristic of the genus. Scalloped fracture margins comparable to those produced by the living cuttlefish Sepia suggest that the Silurian predators may also have been cephalopods. |
