| Abstract | X-radiography revealed that borings of Cliona celata in a shell belonged to two individuals which showed strict avoidance of coalescence. A special development of small branches of the borings occurs along the “zone of proximity” between the two sponges. Possible reasons for the non-coalescence are discussed. |
